All eyes at the night sky lit up by thousand of flying lanterns, filled with hopes and prayers. Armed with your camera, you get to immerse this once-a-year mesmerising celebrations of festive magnificence, seen through your lens.

Canon Imaging Academy invites you to visit Borobudur temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where this festive celebration is one of the recommended events to be watched, photographed in Indonesia.

Besides the Vesak celebrations, itinerary includes capturing intact culture, landscape, nature and simple hospitality of its people through their lens and ideal for those who wish to capture portfolio-quality photos.

Participants will get technical and photo creative tips, photography guidance from tour leader to maximise photo harvests during the trip.

Arrive at Yogyakarta, meet-up and directly transferred to Solo (about 1 hour drive). Overnight in Solo.

In early morning @ 04.00 am proceed to Kemuning tea plantation for sunrise photo session… return to Solo through beautiful countryside view on rice fields and daily life local people. Stop at traditional Gong maker of Javanese music instrument. Next drive back to Borobudur for Jatilan dance performance.

We rise early, and make our way to the Borobudur temple at around 4.30am for a sunrise shoot of the sprawling temple complex. This UNESCO World Heritage site is a 9th-century Mahayana Buddhist temple, and is the world’s largest Buddhist temple, one of the greatest Buddhist monuments in the world.

After our morning session, we will visit some local handicraft makers around the area for some street photography, before joining the Waisek Day celebration that lasts until midnight.

Another early morning @ 04.30 am proceed to Setumbu hill for Sunrise photo session. After the shoot, we will proceed to Yogyakarta. En-Route, we may go to local market for shoot if time permitting. After this, we will head to Prambanan Hindu temple complex for sunset photography session.

You are free to explore the area in the morning on your own until it is time to head for the airport. This is the end of our photo expedition.
