Intermediate 104: Visual Story-Telling (SFC-eligible)

At the end of this course, participants will be able to create their own body of work and understand how to approach visual storytelling with informative captions. 

Pre-requisites
Students are expected to have completed our Basic Photography course or have good knowledge of the following:-
  • Functionalities of your personal DSLR or any interchangeable lens camera system
  • Photography foundation (i.e. you know the difference between f/2 and f/22, why you would choose one over the other and knowing when shots turn out all blurry, you can troubleshoot to shoot again to get it sharp)
  • Comfortable working/shooting with manual (M) mode of your camera

All Singaporeans aged 25 and above can use their $500 SkillsFuture Credit from the government to pay for a wide range of approved skills-related courses. For more information, please visit the SkillsFuture Credit website (www.skillsfuture.sg/credit).

  1. Send an Email to cia@canon.com.sg, with subject titled “SkillsFuture Course”.

    Include these details in your email to us:

    • Full name as per NRIC
    • Course Name
    • Intake
    • Camera Model
    • Mobile No

    Step 2: Our system will generate a Confirmation and send it via Email to you upon successful registration.

    Step 3: Either screen print or save the Confirmation Email from us into a PDF and proceed to skillsfuture.sg/credit to login with your Singpass.

    Step 4: Register your Profile information with SkillsFuture and proceed with the claim process. Search for “Canon Singapore” in the search field on SFC webpage and pick the course that you wish to claim for. Attached the Confirmation Email PDF and submit your claim.

    Step 5: Please email us the SFC approved notification upon receiving the same day or not later than 3 days before commencing the Course for our reference and record.

    Please take note of the following:

  1. Notwithstanding of the above, your course registration is subject to SkillsFuture’s approval on your SFC Application.
  2. Inoccurrence of any of the following events, you will be required to make full or partial payment prior to attending the Course:-
    • The SFC Application is rejected or cancelled by SkillsFuture as at the commencement date of the Course; or
    • The approved SFC is lesser than the course fee as at the commencement date of the Course.

During this session, instructor will discuss with the class on the chosen location to get the photographs. 

Practical - MORNING - 4hrs 

Location: To be confirmed depending on inclination of student profile. This will be an agreed and accessible area for all participants. 

> Some tips on capturing the shots will be shared. 

> Making photographs with guided themes 

> In between, some breakout sessions for a critique of photographs made.

Classroom - AFTERNOON - 3 hrs

Participants are encouraged to bring their iPad/ Laptops to sequence and edit the photos.

> Photo Critique Framework 

> Basic Photo Editing, and Participants to assemble their stories.

> Group Sharing and Critique

  • Workshop is open to all camera brand users (mirrorless / DSLR cameras)
  • Registration must be made via this website on a first-come-first-served basis. No reservation entertained.
  • The detailed information on venue and outing will be informed to participants during the first lesson.
  • Entrance fees to any venue during practical session will be borne by the course participants. Course instructor will advise further during the first lesson.
  • Participants must bring their own cameras, lenses, filters, tripod & charged batteries.
  • Canon Singapore Ptd. Ltd. shall not be held responsible for any injuries or mishaps during the workshop.
  • In the event of workshop cancellation due to unexpected circumstances, Canon Singapore Ptd. Ltd. will refund participants on their paid fees. 
  • Canon Singapore Ptd. Ltd. reserves the right to make any other amendments without prior notice.
